Email campaign

Here's how I see it working.
We send out emails to email addresses of likely sympathisers urging them to take action and pass on the email message to their friends as quickly as possible. The letter could read:
Dear Friend,
You may be aware that Kinsale Farmers Market is in danger of being permanently stopped. In its short successful history the present market has had to withstand continuous harassment by local council officials(e.g..not being allowed signs that other markets are allowed by right,....more examples)
The latest piece of harassment - too dangerous to use Short Quay because of steps(which were installed by Council with blessing of the local Engineer)has meant that the Market is homeless and cannot operate from the Short Quay until this 'health and safety matter' is resolved. It will only be resolved if enough pressure is put on local politicians and officials to force them to act.
You can help by sending some emails to or contacting the main 'players' some of whom are listed below. You can also help greatly by forwarding this email to your own contacts who you think might also help.
The list of those who need to be lobbied are as follows:
  • Kinsale Town Councillors -list
  • Kinsale town clerk Name
  • Councillors Kevin Murphy, Alan Coleman
  • local TD'S by names
  • County Manager(name)
  • Chief County Engineer(name) (Morrison's boss)
  • Mary Ryan, Kinsale Town Manager
  • Trevor Sergeant, Minister ,
Just click on the email address in blue and either write your own email or copy and paste the one below.
Kinsale Farmers Market
Dear(insert name)
I am writing to you to protest against the continuous harassment of the Kinsale Farmers Market by the county council.
This market provides a valuable service to the Kinsale community by offering them additional choice of food not offered by existing local retailers. It generates badly needed extra business for the town, acts as an easy and effective way for people, many of them local, to start and run a business, it provides an attraction and valuable service to visiting tourists as well as being a regular meeting place for all strata of the local community.
This harassment has finally resulted in the Market being barred from using its natural venue in Short Quay in the centre of town on the grounds of 'health and safety'. These issues, which are of the County Council's own making, are perfectly capable of being resolved while the Market continues to use the Short Quay.
I would ask to vigorously support the immediate re-instatement of the Farmers Market in Short Quay.
I would be grateful if you could reply to this email outlining your views on the matter and what positive, immediate steps you are taking to resolve this issue quickly.
I look forward to your early reply.
Yours etc.
(Your name)
If you can all get this going it would be great.
