Dear Sirs ,
I would like to point out that I was not consulted about the engineers report submitted to you at the last council meeting .
I have had a meeting with the Town clerk, and Mr Rob Andrews to discuss the safety issue arising in the Short Quay , where it was decided that the issues could be easily dealt with , at no cost to the Council or to the market . The rent was increased by 500 euros per annum to cover the rubbish and the time that Rob Andrew would spend sorting out the safety issues with me .
I was given the impression that we would be in the Town Park until Mid -May and then back in the Short Quay for 3 months , after the Drainage work , which was the reason given by Mary Ryan for us being moved in the first place .

At the recent meeting of the council , 3 other sites were suggested, none of which are viable , and which would result in the Market failing in a matter of weeks , which may be the intention of some of the businesses in Kinsale.

It was also suggested by Mary Ryan , that she prefer to deal direct with the stall-holders over the license , without paying anyone to run the market.
I would like to point out the consequences of such a move . The stall-holders have all intimated to me that if the market is to be moved or continually messed about with , they would prefer to trade on a Wednesday , which is as you know a free trading day in the entirety of the town .

This would result in a Bantry type situation of traders setting up where ever they wished ,and selling what ever they wished, and I doubt that the casual traders licensed for a Wednesday would feel the need to renew their licenses!

I trust you will consider these issues when being asked to destroy the best tourist attraction in Kinsale , and my livelihood as well.

Yours sincerely Miles Cattell
